Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment

It is often called the “Vampire Facial” as it uses the patient’s own blood to rejuvenate and revitalize. It improves overall tone, texture and elasticity of the skin in a natural way.

Your blood contains small cells called platelets that help stop bleeding. Platelets also contain specific growth factors that when activated, promote tissue regeneration and healing with new collagen, and improved blood supply.

It captures the body’s own natural rejuvenating potential and places it where it can provide the maximal aesthetic benefit.

Benefits

– Wrinkle improvement

– Reduction of pore size

– Improvement in skin elasticity and tone

– Treatment of blemishes

– Acne treatment

– Reduction of under-eye dark circles

– Improvement of hair loss

What to expect during the treatment

It is a non-surgical injection treatment and is done in the physician’s office.

A small sample of your blood is taken and spun in a centrifuge. This process separates the platelets from the rest of the blood. The centrifuge we use is the advanced Dr PRP system, designed specifically for extracting PRP from blood samples in a clinically safe and sterile manner.

The platelets are then isolated and prepared for re-injection.

The treatment area is cleaned and numbing cream is applied.

PRP can either be injected directly into the dermis with a specialised machine called a skin injector, or it can be placed under the skin with a very thin needle or tube, called a cannula.

The procedure takes about 30-45 minutes depending on which areas are treated.

When will I see results?

You should start to see results within a week. Your skin will appear more youthful and rejuvenated. It will continue to improve over the first three months after treatment. Results may remain from 1 to 2 years following your treatment.

When done properly, PRP creates impressive results both as an isolated procedure or when incorporated into a treatment plan.

How many treatments will I need?

Best results are seen after a course of 1 to 3 treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Are there any side effects?

After the procedure, you may experience some slight swelling and redness in the treated area. This is normal and temporary, and we will provide you with the appropriate post-treatment care to minimise any discomfort.

Is PRP treatment safe?

PRP is extremely safe as it uses your own blood to repair and regenerate your skin. This procedure is one of the safest ways to revitalize and rejuvenate your skin. As with any medical treatment, it is important to ensure that your medical practitioner is well-qualified and experienced in the procedure
